so sometimes i feel a little vulnerable writing on here...i was thinking tonight how i have been writing in journal's...having prayer journals since i was around 13 years old...but that is just God, me, my pen and paper, but here its online...ah....
anyway...i want to share its good...just sometimes i think wow.... its much different than a regular journal i am used to.
so today was a bit crazy...
one of our dear nannies misplaced a large sum of her money...for her daughters school and then for her to deliver her baby. we are praying that it is not stolen, but will have to address it. it breaks my heart for sr. claudia...please pray for her. pray that we find it. pray that if we dont find it we have funds to help her...pray that if someone did steal that they come forward and the problem is resolved. we cant have that here....this is Gods house and none of that can be here....we are all an example for these kids we are all a team...so Lord restoration, provision, grace...all those things in this situation.
then a gentleman came to our gate this afternoon...he has a son in the hospital and needs a place to help him take care of his 15 month old. Dorothy told me not to take anyone in unless it was an emergency, so we have talked to him and monday he will come with us to frer ti sere....we have an appointment for Johnny on that day so he and his son will just come with us. pray for him and pray for us as we discern how the Lord wants to help him.
well i have to make breakfast for everyone in the morning...find kerosine somewhere and of course legliz!!
mwen ekri a pita.

big mama
Dorothy left yesterday and i've moved into her room....and i am officially the big mama now. however there is madame sevir who is the director now...she is lovely. she is helping dorothy get her orphanage license and with helping add more structure for the staff and children. she also will be the one dealing with problems among staff if they arise. i will say i am very thankful for this! today we had to go downtown for some paperwork and we had to stop on the side of the road a total of 6 times because the car overheated. dorothy really needs a new one so pray for FAVOR FAVOR FAVOR as she is in the states not fundraising and seeing her family.
she also needs a new generator or inverter or both so that she doesn't have to rely on city (edh) electricity because that can be very fickle, the housing situation as they are tearing down her wall here...she may have to move or maybe she can buy this home still dont know....and then of course there are repairs, medicine, food, and doctor appointments that are always going on. all that to say there is much needed and this is why i speak FAVOR FAVOR FAVOR upon her as she is in the states.
we are doing well here...kervens has grown so much...not much physically although maybe a little...but he has matured in so many ways....growing up...not only learning the fruits of the spirit but definitely practicing them more. he has also become quite the chef....both baker and cook! the new cook that is here since i left Sr. Ava has given him some cooking lessons. we have made several batches of cookies and a brownie mix, plus we have decided he will be my chef for dinner in the evenings. this kid is so amazing. LOVE LOVE LOVE HIM! not just for the new skill of mastering the kitchen....promise. :)
what else is going on...for keziah and casey: Johnny is on his ARV meds now and we take him back to frere ti ser on september 3rd. he seems to be extremely happy. the kiddos miss you both....pray for you everday. ou fe bon travay avek yo!!
ok...i best get to bed. love love love!

day 5...like i never left...
today i worked on teaching one of the nannies how to do therapy with poutchino...he is getting so strong...doing so much more. i am beyond proud of him and thankful to God. he is truly amazing that little boy...and to hold him again...hear him say 'AH, GAN'...is SO worth it! Sr. Kattelyn is doing a great job with him...i hope to work with her everyday possible until she really feels comfortable doing therapy with him! i'm so excited someone will do it everday with him again...as he has gained much strength and confidence. who knows where he will be in another 10 months...maybe taking 10 steps at a time on his own or more...2 to 10, 10 to every...oh the things i know the LORD can do in poutchi...
i leave on the 15th of sept...and i am trying desperately to pretend that will take forever to come...kervens prays for me to stay here longer every night i tuck him in. goodness i have missed that boy. tonight we sat on the roof snuggled...talked about haiti...his future...how its been while i was away and looked at the storm coming our way...i have greatly missed this place!

BLESSED today
Today we took LOVEnsky, Johnny & Rosa to the Frer Ti Ser... it was a long day, but so good for them to see the doctors and get new meds. I will have to take Love and Johnny back in about 15 days.
Afterwards we were able to stop and get some food in our bellies...left at 8am and got home at 4:45pm i think...a long day...but good. impatience is a force of the enemy, but when we keep praising and keep truckin on...waiting is never a problem. we are blessed. speaking of....
i was reading my dear friend sarah beths blog and i have to quote her on a post about the word blessed...i cant get it out of my head its so good!
The original word for “blessed” is makarios. Revel in the definition: “Biblically, one is pronounced blessed when God is present and involved in his life. The Hand of God is at work directing all his affairs for a divine purpose, and thus, in a sense, such a person lives coram Deo, before the face of God.”
ISN'T THAT SO GOOD...
i am blessed...blessed to be where God is, blessed to be working with Him...active here in this beautiful country...AYITI...blessed to join the community at Much Ministries and Blessed to help and have a home @ FHL Infant rescue!

family in haiti!
God is so good in the way he works things out...not only do i get to be here with my haitian family and the beautiful community i built over 10 months last year, but my sister, Amanda is here. She is visiting Issac Kervenson...her little baby boy. She is adopting him and after Dorothy, Kervens, Casey, Mama Kati, my mom...I finally was able to meet him too!
He is SO Beautiful and i can tell my sister is in LOVE! I was able to take kervens and spend most the day with them at the hotel they are staying at.
A divine appointment for sure!!! <3 <3 <3
however she leaves tomorrow so keep her travels in your prayers...but especially her adoption process...check out her blog for more info. (link on right).

mwen la!!!!
Yesterday I got in and the flight was a bit late as normal...but i'm here and it is OH SO GOOD!!! the kids made signs for me...sr. jesula cleaned and made bouquets of flowers in the kitchen, the living room, the dinning room and my bedroom...and kervens made me cookies...it was a great welcome home!
so much has changed as i new it would, but yet it feels very much the same. i love this place...and more than that i LOVE all the people here. i didn't realize how much i missed the nannies...i always hurt when i think about the distance from the kids, but not until i hugged sr. jesula, sr. rosemanie and sr. lucienne did i realize how much i missed these beautiful haitian women who work so hard to provide for their families and love on the kids here. their smiles and joy for my return is an honor i cannot describe.
oh and then to talk about the kids...i thought i would be a ball of tears...but i am not as much of a crier in nature as much as some in my life...however when i saw poutchino...that was definitely a choke in my throat and a HALLELUJAH! he has braces and he is doing so well...he was so excited to see me. he is always making his way over and pulling on me...asking for kisses...oh how i have missed this boy. his progress is SO huge...i didn't realize the extent. i did a few exercises with him that i did during our therapy seasons and the boy has concurred many fears...he's standing on his own now for many seconds and taking 2-4 steps without help or desire for it...or at least this is what i see in his face as he wiggles with joy. HE IS SO BEAUTIFUL. flying miles to hug him...and love him...is beyond enough for God and i am so blessed in an overwhelming way to be one of the many people to do it!
i know some say coming here must be a sacrifice, but it is a gift to be in this space...a beautiful gift full of joy, grace, abundance, and love. yes every situation has things that can have pros and cons, but to see poutchi walk 3 steps to me...to hear richardson speak actual sentences in english with his cute voice, to tuck kervens into bed and talk with him like old times, to hug dorothy, to see the smiles on the nannies faces, to meet sr. eva the new cook, to see johnny walking and so very affectionate, the list goes on and on....THIS IS A GIFT. PRAISE GOD...MESI JEZI!

sharing sweet emily!
A few weeks ago i received a call from Cheryl Merritt, some of you may know her. She is a wonderful woman who has served many years in Haiti and was one of the many people who God used to save emily. In fact between her, sarah (her daughter) and me we gave emily her name. emily has been out at bercy, cabaret since november of last year.
anyway...as you know emily was my house warming gift to Dorothy when i came into port to work with fhl infant rescue. i lived with her, loved on her and bonded with her while i was there for 10 months. she is a beautiful lil girl who was a miracle from God. so weak and now so healthy.
to make a long story short...or more like a long story longer (as casey would say)
Shelly Stammis is a woman i met while in Haiti last year. this summer she stayed at Bercy and fell in love with emily marie. she has decided to adopt her! it is an answered prayer because i have been praying for some that i know to adopt her so that i can stay connected with her and be in her life. when i first heard i was like...wait i wanna adopt her...then a second later i thought...wait this is an answered prayer...PRAISE GOD!
Shelly was in Jacksonville with the Merritts so i went down and visited for a day...saw many pictures of emily and was able to be with what i jokingly like to call...my 'baby's mama'...i am so excited for Shelly and for emily...she will be so blessed. Shelly is a good mom, a strong woman and a deep lover of Jesus...I am blessed to know her and so excited for emily. and honored that shelly will still put up with me callin emily my baby too. how cool that she gets to have multiple mamas!!!
so there is the Shout out to Jesus and my answered prayer...and shelly and sharing emily and being so extremely blessed...

Dorothy's Update August 2, 2009
Sharing Lots of people send us clothes, so many that we can't use them all, so we share. Our nanny Rose took clothes to a family in her neighborhood with 10 children. Mostly the children go naked because they don't have any clothes. Rose was immensely touched when the mother cried with joy because of the clothes Rose brought. Other nannies have had similar experiences. Seeing that they can make a difference has inspired them to even greater efforts to reach out to their neighbors. When our staff share clothes, shoes, blankets, etc., they also share the message of Christ. Praise God that we are helping Haitians reaching out to Haitians!
Kids
Johnny's immune system is crashing and he needs AIDS medications quickly. His blood test last week showed a CD4 count of 383, 5.9%. The clinic approved him for medications but before he can start we have to take a class to learn how to give the medicines. Class is set for August 7th. We are trying to keep him away from anyone who is sick. Please pray with us that Johnny will stay well so he can start the meds right away.
Tuesday of last week, 7/21, a friend called to say there was a crying lady with a 1 month old baby at her house looking for help. They were homeless. This is her 3rd baby. The other 2 died as infants, she doesn't know why. I brought the baby boy, Hulkeluno, and his mother home to stay in our back room until he is older and she can find a job. He has 12 fingers and 11 toes! Our doctor said that can be an indication of heart or kidney problems and we need to get him evaluated. We ran the usual blood tests: he has syphilis! She probably does, too. We'll get them both treated.
Friday of last week, 7/24, was hectic. first Pastor Luke brought us a grandmother and little girl, Emanuella. Emanuella was seizing constantly and looked like she was dying. The day before Sherrie had taken them to two children's hospitals. The 1st hospital said the little girl was too far gone to help. The 2nd hospital gave prescriptions for amoxicillin and phenobarbital and sent them away. 'Luckily' I knew there were American doctors doing a clinic in the neighborhood. Two of them came right away. They said it looks like Emanuella is around 3 years old and has had chronic seizures for a very long time. They loaded her up with phenobarbital and told me how much to give her daily.
I have since been told that the 'grandmother' is a stranger who picked Emanuella up off the street. Our staff is afraid that she will try to use Emanuella to get money from a foreigner so we took Emanuella to the police Friday and told them the whole story. Staff from Social Services were there also and made an appointment for us to meet with them Monday morning. They will let me keep Emanuella and will help me to become a licensed orphanage.
Just after we got Emanuella settled, St. Damien's Hospital staff brought Rosa, a 4 year old girl, and her uncle. Rosa has TB and HIV. Both parents are dead. The staff was concerned because Rosa's caretakers were not giving good care. Some of her behaviors make me suspect she was also being sexually abused. She is beautiful, scared, and doesn't know how to behave in a safe setting. Praise God, our nannies are loving and patient. I am SO grateful that God brought Rosa to a safe place!!!!
Later that afternoon Pastor Emory brought Amania and her mom from Gonaives. Amania is 3 and still doesn't walk so we agreed to let them stay here while we have Amania evaluated. We have an appointment with a doctor next Wednesday.
Sterline's mom brought her along when she needed to get more formula, baby food and vitamins. With a heavier-than-normal head and casts on both legs, 7 month old Sterline only weighs 11 lbs. We gave as much as mom could carry and counseled her on feeding Sterline more food more often.
Kimberly's mom called and said she will come today to take Kimberly home with her. Apparently she has found a home. Praise God! We love it when children return to loving families.
Gertie spent July with her mother in their village of Thomazeau. They came back 7/30 so Gert could get ready to go back to school. But Gertie did not want to leave her mom; she cried. We gave them money for Gertie's school fees in Thomazeau (about $50 USD) and asked that she please come stay with us during school vacations. It was hard to let Gert go - I have raised her for more than 3 years and love her very much - but it was the right thing to do. Her village is beautiful and her mother now lives in a nice home and can care for her.
House hunting We know the mayor of Delmas will force the owner of this house to remove part of the house but we don't know when. Our rent is paid thru September and we will be allowed to stay on a month to month basis ($700 USD per month) until the mayor makes her start work. I have been looking for a new house to rent. Ouch! Anything large enough to house a lot of sick babies and toddlers with occasional mothers is way more than $700 a month, more like $2500 a month. It's time to think about buying a house. I hope the owner will agree to sell us this house for a reasonable price and that we will be able to raise the money to buy it or another suitable house.
Car We don't have a new car yet but the old one is currently running. Like the "little engine that could", it had a really hard time climbing the hill to the lab for blood tests but it made it at last.
Equipment Both the generator and the inverter have stopped working. We are now totally dependent on Haiti's erratic electric service.
Tidbits
Hulkeluno was born June 24. On July 21 his mom told us he was 2 months old. She thought babies were 1 month old at birth.
We had a stinky weed growing near the back steps. One nanny didn't want us to pull it up because, she said, it keeps the lugaru (some kind of evil spirit) away. I made sure to remove it completely and tell her that God and His angels are all the protection we need.
God promised to supply all my needs for this work in Haiti. Luck had nothing to do with having American doctors in the neighborhood when a critical child was brought to my home after being refused help at 2 hospitals. God is always good!
I will go to Florida on August 26th for a 3 to 4 week visit and would like to speak to as many groups as possible about the infant rescue mission. Please let me know if you would like for me to speak to your group.
Prayer requests
The spiritual growth of our staff, for them to be bold to speak the gospel as they reach out to their neighbors
Good health for our children
Protection of all missionaries from spiritual attacks. Many of us are experiencing more than usual equipment breakdowns, frustration of our plans, personnel problems, bureaucracy, etc.
Our equipment needs
Our house
Replenishing our pantry with foods to give hungry families
School sponsors for the triplets, Richardson, Gertie and Rosa
The group coming to do Bible studies with our staff
For all of us to remember to praise God for all that he is and has given us whenever we are tempted to worry about what we don't or may not have
God is good, ALL the time! Thank you for your love and support.

Thank you for your love and support.

schools, travels & teams!
So many things are going on this month.
Cory and many wonderful people here will end their summers and head back to college, including Casey Nichols! She came back from Haiti and has been called to pursue one of her many dreams...a graduate degree in Dance/movement therapy. We are all very excited for her as she is going after one of the many things she is called to do...Dancing and bringing restoration through that art...how amazing. the school is in New Hampshire, we will miss her...but know she must GO.
what else is going on... Dorothy has asked me to come down and look over Faith Hope Love Infant Rescue while she visits Jacksonville, FL. So Much Ministries will be sending me to watch over her ministry there as she is one of the many families and people in this community of MUCH! i am still figuring out the details of things, but i will probably be down there for 3 weeks! i'll do my best to keep ya'll in the loop with this!! :)

We might have one more team coming before the summer is over. its very exciting to see the transformation, to watch the much love community living spaces worked on, to see kids doing something bigger than themselves, to know that this 3/4 community here is full of purpose, grace, creativity and love. it is very good...that God kinda good!! to check out more about team effort go to http://www.teameffort.org/
