Gertie & Izaola July 24, 2008

I forgot to mention also that Gertie’s mother came to visit! The look on her face was so precious. She really loves her mom! She went home to spend time with her before she is her for the school year. She will come back in august to be here in time for school. YES…she is going to start school and we are so excited. She will being going to the TLC barefoot school right around the corner from us. Missionaries run the school and it’s also the school that Dannae (my roommate) teaches at. We really believe that Gertie is such a gem because she is so smart, precious, helpful…she does so well in both worlds…being with Dorothy and going home with her mom. Dorothy wishes this was the case for all the kids we have here. Gertie is a gem and has a great future ahead of her. We pray the Lord continues to move in her life as she grows into a woman! We believe she will do mighty things!!!

Then Iazola went home with her grandma, which was hard…she cried and didn’t really want to go. However we know its partly because she wont get as much food there. However, Dorothy doesn’t want to leave me with a huge household if she doesn’t have to. Plus we think its important that she knows and spend time with her family. Help her learn to adjust well and work well in both places. She needs to know her grandma.

So we are now down to 16 kids, but Gertie will be back in august so we'll have 17.

i hope this finds you well from wherever you are reading it!
blessings on you and you day!

A FESTIVE WEEK!

Oh my goodness…its has been crazy around here. The team from south Carolina just left this morning and yesterday Kev, Poutchino, Diane and I spent all day at the hospital. However, they accomplished so many things and brought so many things. We are beyond grateful. It will be good to get back into our regular routine though, seeing as all the excitement is draining. It’s a blessing nonetheless.

Let us see…Danny did amazing! He fixed screens all over the place to help keep flies and mosquitoes out, he fixed the door to the stop of the stairs, he fixed the gate out front that was horrid to try and close, he put in a new fan downstairs, he fixed the gas generator, and I know I am forgetting more things.

The ladies…sorted clothes, wrapped presents for all the kids, painted the hallway, did some sewing that needed mending, loved on kids, trimmed bushes and trees that desperately needed it! I am sure I am forgetting things in there too.

Sunday we were suppose to have a big birthday party with playing in the pool outside, gifts a big meal and cake, but as most people who know, Haiti time is slow…so the party was spread over a couple of days. The fun lasted longer that way. Sunday the meal and pool time, then cake and presents the next.

Diane was a HUGE help at the hospital. Without her coming with me and calming me down before we left we accomplished a lot. Lets just say about everything that could go wrong went wrong before we left. We had to go back to see Doc. Noe and praise God Kevs cast got taken off, but a lot of waiting. Poutchino went to see Doc. Romeus, who has seen Kev and Emarie, he is great with the kids and a big help. We had to get x-rays of his chest and of course, kev and his arm, but he is healed. You can still see where the break was, but it looks back in place. Poutchino’s diagnosis was Pneumonia. He now taking two antibiotics and will go back on Monday to have another chest x-ray to see how he is doing. I hope that this infection hasn’t gone into his shunt. I can’t imagine how long he has had it because he’s had a cough for what seems like forever, the funny thing is numerous amounts of people had listened to his chest and checked him out. We are praising God we finally know why he’s been getting fevers.

Johny had a high fever the other day and will be going back to the hospital for more tests soon. He will most likely be re-admitted. Keep him in your prayers.

Overall, it was a good and busy week. It was filled with blessings, new friends, and many accomplishments!

I hope that gives you a good summary of the week.

Thanks for all your prayers as always they are much needed and appreciated.

Poutchie...

It has been so crazy lately between kevs broken arm and hospital runs, to errands going long, to guests stopping by the house and poutchinos mom coming to visit...i haven't done therapy with him in 4 days. then today 2 hours before i get him to do therapy Emmanuel brought him up stairs because he was having a seizure. thank God it wasn't a grand Mal one. we only had to give him half a dose of Valium. therefore he was still a little out of it and weak so it now is five days that we haven't done therapy. i am trying to not feel guilty about it because he has gotten to the point that he is getting more exercise throughout his day. he crawls around, lifts his legs in the air, pulls himself up to stand. he has gotten much stronger. i also feel like the nannies walk with him more. he also always is on his head...i should get a picture of it sometimes...it always cracks me up. he puts his feet on the ground and his head and sticks his butt in the air...like a little mountain. its funny, but cute in a poutchino kind of way!

well just wanted to let you know. keep him in your prayers, he still is having high fevers almost everyday and we can't pinpoint whats wrong.

blessings on your week.

SO MUCH TO SAY

i know it has only been 4 days, but so many things have happened. i will do my best to recap you on the big highlights...

Wednesday...in the morning we transported DeeDee and her boys to Caribbean for a shopping spree so to speak. she had some visitors in so they were letting her boys get some goodies. then right after that i got home and rushed to get Poutchino to healing hands for therapy. then when i got home Dorothy had started a big task bleaching and cleaning our rock bed that we have inside...so i joined in on the fun. then Wednesday night Pastor Emory and Mary came into port late from Gonaives to spend the night as they had to fly out the next morning for an emergency at home in Georgia. please pray for them. they have a ministry here and had just settled down to stay for at least 2 years. it had been 6weeks, and then they had to return home.

Thursday...we did several airport runs as flights here and that sorta of thing are a bit chaotic and often take a full day. i know it was very exhausting for Mary & Emory because they were suppose to get the first flight out and then didn't leave until late afternoon. but i hope they are doing well now and safe at home in Georgia. then that night we and Dorothy had to get up early in the morning because the puppies were crying SO loud. Nala apparently feels overwhelmed with the 10 pups...understandable. however we often have to force her to feed and sit with her while she does it. sad day...praise God though they are getting big enough to eat puppy food now. oh i don't even know that i told everyone we had puppies...oh well now you know :)

Friday...the biggest day...
we went to the playground at church to play as we often do on Friday mornings and we had ice cream (deedees friends brought it...such a treat) and it was a great morning. i mean i was extremely tired considering the nights sleep before that...but still great. later that day not long after we got home, Kevs feel outside and busted his front permanent tooth, plus his lip and also landed on his arm that had been already bruised or injured somehow from a soccer ball the week before. needless to say he was in a lot of pain. last week we didn't have the money to take him to get an x-ray, but thanks be to God we did this week...so we spent the afternoon in the hospital. it turns out that he had a fracture and got a cast put on. the Dr. who put his cast on we actually know from healing hands and thank the Lord he gave us a missionary discount and cut the price in half!! then later that night Marley Desir (the dentist that came to check all the kids out while my sister was in town) came and fixed his tooth. he needed electricity and we didn't have it, but dottie who has a guest house up the street let us come and do it there. what a blessing a dentist that does house calls. Kevs was a great sport too...only cried and held my hand tight when the Novocaine went in, but after awhile he didn't want to hold my hand, he a tough guy :)

OK and Saturday we worked at agape flights with the mail and it was hectic...so its been a bit crazy lately, but its settling down hopefully. Kevs i think overall is pretty excited about having a cast. i was honored to be the person he wanted to sign it first. hes such a sweet kid. when he wants to be of course...hes definitely all boy, if you know what i mean :)

i think that's all for tonight. I'll try to get some pictures up soon, i just have to get them from Dorothy now because i have lost my camera. but hopefully soon, because you'll want to see pics of kevs I'm sure!

thanks for everything, reading the blog, praying for us, supporting, encouraging us...everything!

I pray blessings upon each one of you. t.Rae

July 8th

Wow...So i would have been home tonight for good if i hadn't extended my stay...its crazy to think it has already been 6 months living here in Haiti with Dorothy and all these beautiful children.

i have thanked the Lord so much today because i am still here! i was homesick there for awhile, but he truly has answered prayers and now when i think about leaving i am speechless(sigh). i really am so thankful for this season in my life and it is not even over yet!

The Lord has found me, brought me out of muck, healed me, used me, sent me to Haiti and is keeping me here for a few more months and i am oh so blessed. i am honored to have a community that does nothing but encourage. i am filled with joy to see change and improvement in these children. i am blessed in abundance.

no matter how many things break on us here...the inverter, generators, car...HE is always working. we always have enough, enough to put food on the table, enough hugs to get a heart full of smiles!!! i really love that. words are not enough for my gratitude in our mighty God and in all of you as you pray with us and do so much more.

THANK YOU!

"Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken, nor my covenant of peace be removed,' says the LORD,who has compassion on you." -Isaiah 54:10

i have been holding this verse close to my heart lately because no matter how many things shake my ground, HE IS STEADFAST, never letting go.

And then of course 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18...as Dorothy spoke of in her update..as a home we all hold to this one. giving thanks in all circumstances. this is a lesson are children need to never let go of.

Blessings to you all.
Natasha :)

Dorothys Update July 8, 2008

"Johnny came home from the hospital after 5 weeks there! Finally his ear infection is cured. He has gained weight! The doctors cautioned that he is still anemic so we must be diligent in giving vitamins and good food. He will take antibiotics to help prevent future infections as he is HIV positive. We are SO glad to have this sweet boy with us. There have been many changes in Johnnyʼs life recently: he left his home to spend a week with Sherrie, spent a week with us, then five weeks in the hospital. He is a little scared of new surroundings and people. Pray for him, please, to be comforted and to be healed.

Pierreline is a 1 month old baby girl whose mother died. The family only knows that mother had a fever 2 or 3 weeks after giving birth, the doctor gave her medicine and she died two days later. Papa and aunt love the baby and did their best for her: they gave her Gerber baby food. They didnʼt understand that she needs enriched milk more than pureed fruit but they did know they needed help. She is beautiful and, thanks to a concerned family, is in good condition. We are thrilled to be able to help her.

Pierrelineʼs papa acknowledged that he is not a Christian but it is okay with him that we will do everything in our power to be sure that Pierreline learns to love the Lord. We will try to introduce papa to Jesus, too. Please pray for this!

Silly car! It has been running so well for a long time but now the a bar in the front end is falling down. Add car repairs to the list of needs that we are asking you to pray for. The Haitian mechanic said the bar isnʼt important, it only stabilizes the car. Hmmm, not important to be stable?

A friend worked on the diesel generator and we think it only needs a battery and an air filter to make it run. The Haitian mechanic said we need to replace brushes in the gas generator.

It seems like we have a lot of problems, doesnʼt it? Two broken generators, a broken inverter, broken car, lack of rain forcing us to buy water again ... Well, thatʼs life. We are in the Lordʼs hands and I know He will solve each of these problems in His own time. He is already working on them. We practice I Thessalonians 5:16-18: Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is Godʼs will for you in Christ Jesus. We give thanks for a houseful of healthy and healing children, for always having food to eat and water to drink, for having a house full of joy and peace, and much, much more.

We thank the Lord for you, too, who are our partners in prayer and ministry. God bless you!

O HAPPY DAY!

Thank you Jesus, Johny is finally home from the hospital! i am not sure exactly how long its been since we first took him, but more than likely about a month. its good to have him back. he is so sweet and he loves to cuddle!

he has AIDS and is so little, but his spirit is so precious. keep him in your prayers as the littlest infections can be so damaging to his life.

so we still have 18 kids and are doing fine. We do a minor, perhaps maybe major problem with the car (Paul as i have named the machine). It seems that the steering rod is falling off and well that puts a damper on us being able to steer and drive it places. we are not too worried, we now it will get fixed in time. God's time.

it makes life a bit more time consuming as we will have to walk more and take tap taps and ask for rides with fellow friends to the stores, but Dorothy has done it before and we can do it again. however if you think of it pray that God's timing would be sooner than later.

thanks for all the support, prayers, blessings, and more.

Pierrelande

We have a new baby! She is a month old and seems to be doing very well. We took her in this past Saturday. Her mother had fever 15days after birth and died. the father came with the baby to Sherry Fausey's ministry and Sherry called us to come and see if we could help. The Father seems very concerned and loving. We pray he stays involved and visits her often. we haven't taken her to the lab to get the regular tests done yet, but I'm sure that will be in the next few days. pray for Pierrelande and her family as they are grieving the loss of her mother. Also pray they would stay involved with her and visit often because its so good for them to visit and bond so the child knows them. here's a picture so you have faces. Her aunt, father and her.

praise God for you and your prayers!!!
