Chicken pox struck in May and June. 14 (almost half) of our children, a nanny's daughter, and our cook have had chicken pox. Little Rosa suffered the most, crying for 2 days. Rosa and several of the other children have HIV. Their weak immune systems make chicken pox far more dangerous for them. A few of the children just broke out, so it isn't over yet. Praise God for those who have recovered!!! Pray for those still, or soon to be, infected.
Our new generator is installed! Frank King purchased and installed it for us. Somebody Cares America, who donated a large part of the funds to buy the generator, were present on installation day. Union County Baptist Association from Union, SC, donated the balance of the money!!! Many thanks to all of you and to our Lord!

Our new pickup truck - double cab, 4WD, diesel - is purchased. When I get back to complete the registration it will be ours! What a miracle! Thanks to all who worked so hard to raise money for this vehicle. Praises to God!
New beds were donated for our children by a group led by Andy Leslie. I can't wait to get home and see them! They emjptied the pool, too, and did lots of other stuff! Thanks!!!!
Resting in God results in renewed spirit and strength and vision. Future plans include a greater ministry to our workers, loving them, showing them how precious they are, empowering them to change their lives and those of others.
My new grandson's heart surgery was done June 10th. He is out of the hospital and doing well. Thank God I was able to be here! My mother recovered from her heart attack. She celebrated her 94th birthday in May!
Jessica had a tough time in June. Both refrigerators stopped working. 14 children had chicken pox. The Isuzu, still our only vehicle, broke down even after $1500 of repairs which were supposed to fix everything crucial. Printers not working. Forced to use food money to buy acyclovir, necessary for viral infections in HIV children. Organized donated items. Still, she persevered and left the home in the best condition possible. Thank you, Jessica! Thank you, Abby McCullough, for helping Jessica, and Frank King, for your extra support.
In her final report Jessica listed some current needs:
- Pediasure (not the kids drink but the formulation designed to be a sole food for a tube-fed individual) The powdered form is not available in the USA but we can buy it in Haiti. It is very expensive.
- Infant formula. Milk-based with iron.
- Printer. Jessica said my little HP 3940 refused to print for her. The ink for our copier/scanner/printer is too expensive for daily use.
- Hand sanitizer
- More staff members. This means greater funding. Our policy is to pay decent wages for 36 to 40 hour workweeks.
- Whole-house water filtration system. A system to filter water as it leaves the cistern and before it reaches the faucets. We drink 15 to 20 gallons of water per day.
- Erythromicin suspension. An out break of skin staph infections is not responding to other antibiotics.
- Acyclovir for children.
- Propane refrigerator
I return to Haiti Friday, June 9. Contact me about coming to help. Bless you all for your prayers and support.
